Frequently Asked Questions
Can faded photos be restored?
Yes. Fading can often be reduced and lost contrast improved, although the result depends on the condition and available detail in the original photograph.
How to repair torn or damaged old photographs?
Tears, stains, and other damage can often be repaired digitally. The achievable result depends on how much original information remains and whether useful reference material is available.
Can scratches, cracks, stains, and discoloration be removed from old photos?
Many scratches, cracks, stains, and areas of discoloration can be reduced or repaired. The result depends on the severity of the damage and the detail preserved in the photograph.
Can missing parts of an old photo be reconstructed?
Sometimes. When original detail is missing, reconstruction is based on the surrounding image and any useful reference photographs. Completely unknowable detail cannot be recovered with certainty.
Can old black-and-white photos be restored?
Yes. Old black-and-white photographs can be restored while preserving their original character, contrast, detail, and historical feeling.
How to colorize an old black-and-white photo?
Colorization can be requested as part of the restoration. Color choices are developed to suit the photograph, while the original identity, expression, and character remain the priority.
How does professional photo restoration preserve facial identity?
The restoration process prioritizes facial identity, age, expression, proportions, original character, and historical feeling rather than beautifying or redesigning the person.
How to upload photos for a custom photo restoration quote?
Use the quote form to upload your MAIN photographs and any optional REFERENCE photographs, add the restoration details, and submit the request for review. We personally review the photographs you submit and prepare a custom quote.
Which file formats and upload limits are accepted for photo restoration?
Accepted formats are JPEG/JPG, PNG, and HEIC/HEIF. TIFF and AVIF are not accepted. Upload 1–5 MAIN files and 0–5 optional REFERENCE files; each file must be no larger than 100 MiB and each image must be no larger than 100 MP.
How much does photo restoration cost?
Each restoration is quoted individually. We review the photographs you submit and prepare a custom quote based on their condition, complexity, and the work requested. You see the exact quote before payment.
How does the custom photo restoration quote process work?
You upload your photographs, we personally review them, and you receive a Quote Ready email with a private quote link. You review the quote, scope, and terms, then accept them and complete payment before restoration begins. No customer account is required.
Do I need to keep the website open while waiting for my quote?
No. You receive an immediate request receipt confirmation and may close the website. We review the request asynchronously, then send a Quote Ready email with a private quote link. Response time varies and no fixed response time is promised.
How long does photo restoration take?
Timing varies with the photograph's damage, complexity, and the work requested. Expected timing is discussed and confirmed after we review the actual job.
When is payment due for photo restoration?
Payment is due after you review and accept the quote, scope, and terms, and before restoration work begins.
How does the private preview and revision process work?
After restoration, you receive a private preview to review. You can request a revision or approve the final result. Included revisions are defined by the issued quote; changes outside the agreed scope may require an amended or new quote.
How are final restored photos delivered?
After final approval, you receive a secure private link to download the high-resolution final JPEG.
Are my photographs private?
Yes. Customer photographs are private and are not placed in the public Portfolio by default.
